Fortis Shelters Ltd was founded on a simple premise: everyone should have the option of a safe space to protect themselves and those they care about. Drawing on lessons from the past and embracing modern engineering, we’ve created a cost-effective, highly robust shelter that you can build yourself.
We employ HDPE culvert pipe as the base for our shelters. These pipes have been used in the UK for years with a proven track record for strength. The welding technology used in their construction allows us to create completely watertight and inert structures.
Our shelters have been designed to be an asset to your family. When coupled with our chosen ventilation system the shelters become a sanctuary in a crisis. Despite being built as fallout shelters, these will also protect you from a biological and chemical attack. At the very least they are a shelter in the event of civil unrest and a safe store for your supplies.
We made the decision early on in the design process to make our shelters self assembly. The body of the shelter arrives assembled from the factory followed by all the component parts required to provide you with the basics of survival. This places you in control of what you need to include for your needs and what fits your budget.
